How to Measure and Install Valance Clips on Horizontal Blinds

Valance clips are used to attach a valance to your blind. This guide will cover how to measure and install several different types of valance clips for horizontal wood, faux wood, Venetian, and mini blinds. Many are similar in look and size, so it is important to make sure the measurements taken are accurate before ordering.

Step 1 – Identify your clip.

Visually identify which clip matches closest on Fixmyblinds.com.
Measure your valance clip and compare them to the detailed measurements online to determine which clip is the best replacement.

Step 2 – Installing a “C” shaped valance clip.

If your blind is an inside mount, remove the blind from the window before installing the new clip.

Slide the hook side of the valance clip over the headrail.
Remount the blind to the window after installing all of the clips.
Snap the valance into the “C” shaped clips.

Step 3 – Removing a “C” shaped valance clip.

If your blind is an inside mount, you will need to remove the blind from the window before you can take off the clip.

To remove the valance, hold the bottom of the clip, and rotate the bottom of the valance out.
Remove the clip by placing your finger underneath the back of the clip inside the headrail and lift.

Step 4 – Installing a hidden valance clip.

If your blind is an inside mount, remove the blind from the window before installing the new clip.

Slide the hook side of the valance clip over the headrail.
Remount the blind in the window after installing all of the clips.
Snap the valance strips on the back of the valance into the hidden valance clips.

Step 5 – Removing a hidden valance clip.

If your blind is an inside mount, you will need to remove the blind from the window before you can take off the clip.

To remove the valance, reach underneath the valance and hold the clip while rotating the valance out.
Remove the clip by placing your finger underneath the back of the clip inside the headrail and lift.

Step 6 – Installing a slotted groove valance clip.

If your blind is an inside mount, remove the blind from the window before installing the new clip.

Slide the hook side of the valance clip over the headrail.
Remount the blind in the window after installing all of the clips.
Snap the valance clips onto the groove cut on the back of the valance.

Step 7 – Removing a slotted groove valance clip.

To remove the valance, reach underneath the valance and hold the clip while rotating the valance out.
