How to Replace a Tilt Mechanism in a Generic Mini Blind

Video ID: 121011

Introduction

Tilt mechanisms can break and wear out over time. When this happens, you don’t always need to replace your blind. You can simply replace the mechanism to get your blind up and running again.

Tools Needed

None

Step 1 – Remove the blind from the window, and lay it on a flat surface.

Step 2 – Remove the wand.

Step 3 – Remove the end cap closest to the tilter.

  • The hooks on the top of the clips will snap onto the headrail.

Step 4 – Spread the headrail slightly, and pull the tilt rod up.

  • Make sure the tilter stem clears the hole of the headrail.

Step 5 – Remove the compression washer if necessary.

Step 6 – Remove the old tilt mechanism, and install the new tilt mechanism.

Step 7 – Snap the assembly back into the headrail.

  • Make sure the tilter is properly seated.

Step 8 – Replace the washer and end cap.

Step 9 – Reattach the wand.

Step 10 – Test your repair.
